March 25th, 2025 18:47:52 EDT -0400 HVO Kilauea ORANGE/WATCH - The Halemaʻumaʻu eruption at Kīlauea's summit paused on March 20. A new episode is likely to begin today in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. Mar 25, 2025 19:54 - Activity Summary: Episode 14 of the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption at Kīlauea's summit ended at 1:49 p.m. HST on March 20 and the eruption is currently paused. Small dome fountains 20-30 feet (5-10 m) high became visible in the north vent from 9:27 am HST to 9:33 am HST. Lava was confined within the cone at this time and is a prelude to the onset of episode 15, which is highly likely to begin today.Kīlauea's current eruption in Halemaʻumaʻu crater within Kaluapele (the summit caldera) began on December 23, 2024. There have been 14 episodes of lava fountaining ... |
March 25th, 2025 18:47:52 EDT -0400 AVO Great Sitkin ORANGE/WATCH - Slow eruption of lava within the summit crater continues, accompanied by occasional small earthquakes. Mar 25, 2025 18:48 - Lava continues to erupt slowly in the summit crater of Great Sitkin Volcano, and small earthquakes continue at a low rate. Clouds obscured satellite and web camera views of the volcano. The current eruption of Great Sitkin Volcano began with a single explosive event in May 2021. The ongoing eruption of lava at the summit began shortly afterward, in July 2021. The volcano is monitored using local seismic and infrasound sensors, satellite data and web cameras, and regional infrasound and lightning networks. |
March 25th, 2025 18:47:52 EDT -0400 AVO Spurr YELLOW/ADVISORY - Unrest persists at Mount Spurr, with ongoing shallow earthquake activity, surface deformation, and elevated gas emissions. Mar 25, 2025 18:48 - Unrest continues at Mount Spurr volcano. Seismicity remains elevated with numerous small, shallow volcanic earthquakes detected beneath the volcano over the past day. Clouds obscured satellite and web camera views of the summit. No activity was observed in clear web camera views of Crater Peak. AVO continues monitoring activity at Mount Spurr for signals indicating that the volcano is moving closer to an eruption. Based on previous eruptions, changes from current activity in the earthquakes, ground deformation, summit lake conditions, and fumarolic activity would be ... |
March 25th, 2025 18:47:52 EDT -0400 CALVO GREEN/NORMAL - CA volcanoes were at normal background levels of seismicity and deformation during the past week. Mar 25, 2025 17:15 - Monitored CALIFORNIA VOLCANOESCurrent Volcano Alert Level: all NORMALCurrent Aviation Color Code: all GREENActivity Update: All volcanoes monitored by CalVO show normal background earthquake activity and deformation. Monitored volcanoes include Mount Shasta, Medicine Lake Volcano, Lassen Volcanic Center, Clear Lake Volcanic Field, Long Valley Volcanic Region, Coso Volcanic Field, Ubehebe Craters, and Salton Buttes.Past Week Observations for March 17 (0000h PST) to March 23 (2359h PDT):Typical seismicity was recorded at The Geysers geothermal field south of the Clear Lake ... |
March 25th, 2025 18:47:52 EDT -0400 CVO Cascade Range GREEN/NORMAL - All volcanoes are at normal levels. Mar 21, 2025 20:27 - Activity Update: All volcanoes in the Cascade Range of Oregon and Washington are at normal background activity levels. These include Mount Baker, Glacier Peak, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams in Washington State and Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, Three Sisters, Newberry, and Crater Lake in Oregon.Past Week Observations: Small earthquakes were detected at Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Hood, consistent with background-level activity. |
March 25th, 2025 18:47:52 EDT -0400 NMI Ahyi Seamount YELLOW/ADVISORY - Unrest continues. Mar 20, 2025 21:21 - Unrest at Ahyi Seamount continues. A faint plume of discolored water was observed on March 15, 2025. Similar, plumes on the ocean's surface above Ahyi Seamount have been observed in satellite imagery sporadically since August 5, 2024.There are no local monitoring stations near Ahyi seamount, which limits our ability to detect and characterize volcanic unrest there. We will continue to monitor satellite and distant hydroacoustic data closely for additional evidence for, or escalation of, volcanic activity. |
March 25th, 2025 18:47:52 EDT -0400 AVO Katmai GREEN/NORMAL - Resuspended ash observed from 1912 eruption. Aviation color code and alert level remain at GREEN/NORMAL. Mar 16, 2025 14:47 - Strong northwesterly winds in the vicinity of Katmai and the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes have picked up loose volcanic ash erupted during the 1912 Novarupta-Katmai eruption and are carrying it to the southeast toward Kodiak Island. The National Weather Service has issued a SIGMET for this low-level event and suggests that the maximum cloud height is 6,000 ft (1.8 km) above sea level. This phenomenon is not the result of recent volcanic activity and occurs during times of high winds and dry snow-free conditions in the Katmai area and other young volcanic areas of Alaska. ... |
March 25th, 2025 18:47:52 EDT -0400 HVO Ofu-Olosega GREEN/NORMAL - No activity of concern for Ofu-Olosega. March 25th, 2025 18:47:52 EDT -0400 HVO Mauna Loa GREEN/NORMAL - No significant changes at Mauna Loa in the past month; slow inflation of the summit continues. Mar 6, 2025 20:10 - Seismicity beneath Mauna Loa's summit and upper-elevation flanks has been low over the past month; approximately 66 small-magnitude earthquakes (most below M1.5) were detected, which is expected for the post-eruption phase of this volcano and similar to the previous month.Data from Global Positioning System (GPS) instruments on Mauna Loa continued to show only minor inflation near the summit as the volcano recovers from the 2022 eruption and magma replenishes the reservoir system. Gas and temperature data from a station on Mauna Loa's Southwest Rift Zone show that average ... |
