May 1, 2024 20:24 - Activity Summary:  Kīlauea volcano is not erupting. Elevated seismicity beneath the upper East Rift Zone and caldera south of Halemaʻumaʻu that began on April 27 continues. Summit and upper East Rift Zone Observations: An increase in earthquake activity began just after midnight on April 27 beneath the upper East Rift Zone and beneath Kīlauea caldera south of Halemaʻumaʻu. Beneath the upper East Rift Zone. Initial earthquake locations are focused primarily between Puhimau crater and the entrance to Hilina Pali Road but have expanded toward Kīlauea caldera to the ...
May 2nd, 2024 01:00:50 EDT -0400 AVO Great Sitkin ORANGE/WATCH - Slow eruption of lava likely continues. Seismicity is low.
May 1, 2024 19:28 - The slow eruption of lava in the summit crater of Great Sitkin Volcano likely continues. Seismic activity has been low over the past day. Minor and typical steaming from the lava flow vent area was observed in a satellite image from yesterday afternoon. The current lava flow began erupting in July 2021. No explosive events have occurred since a single event in May 2021.Local seismic and infrasound sensors and web cameras are used to monitor Great Sitkin along with regional infrasound and lightning networks and satellite data.
May 2nd, 2024 01:00:50 EDT -0400 AVO Shishaldin YELLOW/ADVISORY - Low-level unrest continues. Seismicity continues and gas emissions were observed.
May 1, 2024 19:28 - Unrest at Shishaldin Volcano continues, with occasional periods of volcanic tremor and intermittent earthquake activity observed over the past day. Sulfur dioxide gas emissions and minor steaming from the summit crater was observed in satellites from yesterday afternoon. This is typical for Shishaldin during periods of low-level unrest. The last significant ash-producing eruption occurred in November 2023. Local seismic and infrasound sensors, web cameras, and a geodetic network are used to monitor Shishaldin Volcano. In addition to the local monitoring network, AVO uses ...
May 2nd, 2024 01:00:50 EDT -0400 YVO Yellowstone GREEN/NORMAL - YVO Monthly Update: background seismicity and deformation
May 1, 2024 15:56 - Recent Work and NewsSteamboat Geyser erupted on April 3—the second major water eruption of the geyser so far in 2024.May means the start of the field season in Yellowstone, and teams will be in the park setting up the seasonal semi-permanent GPS network and performing maintenance on continuous monitoring sites in the latter half of the month. During May 20-22, members of the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory consortium will also gather in Mammoth Hot Springs for the biennial coordination meeting, where they will share scientific results and discuss monitoring and research ...
May 2nd, 2024 01:00:50 EDT -0400 CALVO GREEN/NORMAL - CA volcanoes were at normal background levels of seismicity and deformation during the past week.
Apr 30, 2024 16:49 - Monitored CALIFORNIA VOLCANOESCurrent Volcano Alert Level: all NORMALCurrent Aviation Color Code: all GREENActivity Update: All volcanoes monitored by CalVO show normal background earthquake activity and ground movement. Monitored volcanoes include Mount Shasta, Medicine Lake Volcano, Lassen Volcanic Center, Clear Lake Volcanic Field, Long Valley Volcanic Region, Coso Volcanic Field, Ubehebe Craters, and Salton Buttes.Past Week Observations for April 22, 2024 (0000h PDT) to April 28, 2024 (2359h PDT)Four earthquakes greater than M1 were recorded near the Lassen Volcanic ...
May 2nd, 2024 01:00:50 EDT -0400 CVO Cascade Range GREEN/NORMAL - All volcanoes are at normal levels.
Apr 26, 2024 19:46 - Activity Update: All volcanoes in the Cascade Range of Oregon and Washington are at normal background activity levels. These include Mount Baker, Glacier Peak, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams in Washington State and Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, Three Sisters, Newberry, and Crater Lake in Oregon.Past Week Observations: During the past week, small earthquakes were detected at Mount Hood, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Rainier. All monitoring data are consistent with background activity levels in the Cascades Range.
May 2nd, 2024 01:00:50 EDT -0400 NMI Ahyi Seamount UNASSIGNED/UNASSIGNED - Nothing noteworthy was observed in the vicinity of Ahyi seamount.
Apr 11, 2024 23:06 - No activity was observed in satellite views of the Ahyi Seamount area over the past week. Likewise, AVO received no definitive hydroacoustic detections of submarine volcanic activity. Because of the apparent lack of activity, the Aviation Color Code and Volcano Alert Level for Ahyi Seamount were lowered to UNASSIGNED on April 9, 2024.There are no local monitoring stations near Ahyi Seamount, which limits our ability to detect and characterize volcanic unrest there. We will continue to monitor available remote underwater pressure sensors, and seismic and satellite data ...
May 2nd, 2024 01:00:50 EDT -0400 AVO Atka volcanic complex GREEN/NORMAL - Activity has returned to background levels; Aviation Color Code and Alert ...
Apr 9, 2024 15:34 - Volcanic activity at the Atka volcanic complex has decreased since a small explosion was detected from the summit crater of Korovin, one of several volcanoes there, on March 27 (AKDT). Although occasional small earthquakes and weak volcanic tremor continue to be observed, the current activity is at background levels. Due to this decrease in activity, the Alaska Volcano Observatory is lowering the Aviation Color Code and Volcano Alert Level to GREEN/NORMAL.
May 2nd, 2024 01:00:50 EDT -0400 AVO Spurr GREEN/NORMAL - Conditions at Mount Spurr volcano have improved and AVO is receiving data from earthquake and ...
Apr 5, 2024 00:30 - Conditions at Mount Spurr volcano have improved and AVO is receiving data from earthquake monitoring stations and a remote web camera at the volcano 120 km (75 miles) west of Anchorage. Data are now sufficient to establish the state of the volcano. As a result, the Aviation Color Code and Volcano Alert Level are changed to GREEN/NORMAL. Summary A thick winter snowpack prevented data transmission from seismic stations on Mount Spurr volcano to AVO in Anchorage. Conditions on the volcano have improved recently. In addition, following work at the Anchorage receive facility ...
May 2nd, 2024 01:00:50 EDT -0400 HVO Mauna Loa GREEN/NORMAL - No significant changes at Mauna Loa in the past month; inflation of the summit continues.
Apr 4, 2024 18:20 - Seismicity beneath Mauna Loa's summit and upper-elevation flanks has been relatively low over the past month; approximately 31 small-magnitude earthquakes (below M3.0) were detected, which is expected for the post-eruption phase of this volcano. There were approximately 12 earthquakes deeper than 8 mi (13 km).Data from Global Positioning System (GPS) instruments on Mauna Loa, record a very slight inflationary trend as the volcano recovers from the 2022 eruption, and magma begins to replenish the reservoir system. Gas and temperature data from a station on Mauna Loa' ...
