August 21st, 2026 16:54:19 EDT -0400 AVO Great Sitkin ORANGE/WATCH - Slow eruption of lava continues within the summit crater associated with low-level seismicity.
Aug 21, 2026 19:49 - Lava continues to erupt slowly within the summit crater. Satellite data show that the lava dome is gradually expanding toward the east. Cloudy conditions obscured most satellite and web camera views over the past week, but field observations showed steam emissions from the summit. Seismic activity remains low, with only occasional small volcanic earthquakes and seismic signals associated with minor rockfalls. The current lava eruption began in July 2021 and has filled most of the summit crater and advanced into the valleys below. There have been no explosions at Great ...
August 21st, 2026 16:54:19 EDT -0400 AVO Kupreanof YELLOW/ADVISORY - Low-level unrest continues at Mount Kupreanof this week.
Aug 21, 2026 19:49 - Low-level unrest continues at Mount Kupreanof. Local earthquakes have been occurring at a low rate. Minor emissions of sulfur dioxide gas were occasionally observed in satellite data this past week. A new temporary monitoring station was installed recently near Mount Kupreanof and is providing seismic data, infrasound data, gas measurements, and web camera images on an intermittent basis. This is by design to conserve battery power, but the frequency of data acquisition can be increased if activity warrants. The closest functioning seismometers that provide continuous ...
August 21st, 2026 16:54:19 EDT -0400 AVO Shishaldin YELLOW/ADVISORY - Unrest continues with small earthquakes, tremor, infrasound signals and gas emissions detected.
Aug 21, 2026 19:49 - Volcanic activity remains elevated with numerous small earthquakes, persistent tremor, and occasional infrasound signals generated by small explosions within the volcanic conduit. During periods of clear weather, a steam plume was observed in web camera views. Sulfur dioxide gas emissions continue to be observed in satellite data.Shishaldin Volcano is monitored by local seismic and infrasound sensors, web cameras, and a telemetered geodetic network. In addition to the local monitoring network, the Alaska Volcano Observatory uses nearby geophysical networks, regional ...
August 21st, 2026 16:54:19 EDT -0400 HVO Kilauea YELLOW/ADVISORY - Kīlauea volcano is not erupting; the summit eruption in Halemaʻumaʻu is paused. Data indicate the onset of the next fountaining episode is likely between August 22 and August 27.
Aug 21, 2026 19:25 - Overview:The summit eruption of Kīlauea in Halemaʻumaʻu is paused. Data from summit tiltmeters shows deflation began last night, following the pattern of deflationary steps observed before previous episodes. Glow was observed on webcams from the north and west vents overnight. Tiltmeter data suggest that another episode is likely between Saturday August 22 and Thursday August 27.WARNING: NWS forecasts the possible arrival of another tropical storm system this weekend with potential torrential rains. Overlap with an eruption may create extreme conditions not suitable ...
August 21st, 2026 16:54:19 EDT -0400 NMI Ahyi Seamount YELLOW/ADVISORY - No signs of unrest in satellite images or distal geophysical data this past week.
Aug 21, 2026 00:01 - No activity was observed in occasional clear satellite images or distal geophysical monitoring data over the past week.Eruptive activity at Ahyi Seamount may present a hazard to mariners in the water above and near the volcano. The summit has shallowed over the course of previous eruptions to 180 feet (55 m) below sea level, but the lack of local real-time data means we are unable to forecast or warn of impending eruptions. We will continue to monitor satellite and distal hydroacoustic data for additional evidence for, or escalation of, volcanic activity.
August 21st, 2026 16:54:19 EDT -0400 CALVO GREEN/NORMAL - CA volcanoes were at normal background levels of seismicity and deformation during the past week.
Aug 18, 2026 17:28 - Monitored CALIFORNIA VOLCANOESCurrent Volcano Alert Level: all NORMALCurrent Aviation Color Code: all GREENActivity Update: All volcanoes monitored by CalVO show normal background earthquake activity and deformation. Monitored volcanoes include Mount Shasta, Medicine Lake Volcano, Lassen Volcanic Center, Clear Lake Volcanic Field, Long Valley Volcanic Region, Coso Volcanic Field, Ubehebe Craters, and Salton Buttes.Past Week Observations for August 10 (0000h PDT) to August 16 (2359h PDT):One earthquake greater than M1 was recorded near Mount Shasta, with a magnitude of ...
August 21st, 2026 16:54:19 EDT -0400 AVO Iliamna GREEN/NORMAL - Large avalanche detected on eastern flank. No increase in volcanic unrest.
Aug 14, 2026 21:05 - A large rock and ice avalanche on the eastern flank of Iliamna Volcano was detected by seismic and infrasound sensors at 07:57 AKDT (15:57 UTC) on Saturday, August 8. The source area of the avalanche was also visible in web camera data. Large avalanches are common at this volcano, and the event does not indicate volcanic unrest. Avalanches of similar size have been previously observed in 2016, 2019 and 2023.
August 21st, 2026 16:54:19 EDT -0400 CVO Cascade Range GREEN/NORMAL - All volcanoes are at normal levels.
Aug 14, 2026 18:06 - Activity Update: All volcanoes in the Cascade Range of Oregon and Washington are at normal background activity levels. These include Mount Baker, Glacier Peak, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams in Washington State and Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, Three Sisters, Newberry, and Crater Lake in Oregon.Past Week Observations: During the past week, small earthquakes were detected at Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, Mount Hood, and Newberry. All monitoring data are consistent with background activity levels in the Cascade Range. Field crews conducted station ...

Aug 7, 2026 01:06 - Mauna Loa had a decrease in seismic activity compared to the previous month; a total of 57 earthquakes were detected in Mauna Loa's summit region during the July reporting period, after 94 in June. Most earthquakes occurred deep beneath the upper Southwest Rift Zone or broadly scattered around the upper flanks. Very few earthquakes occurred directly beneath Mokuʻāweoweo.Data from Global Positioning System (GPS) instruments on Mauna Loa showed slight inflation across the summit region in the past month. Aug 7, 2026 01:06 - No significant activity was detected at Haleakalā volcano during the past month. HVO seismometers recorded one earthquake in the vicinity of the volcano. The continuously recording Global Positioning System (GPS) instrument on Haleakalā lost connection on July 13th. No significant deformation was recorded leading up to the outage. The station is owned and operated by researchers at the Pacific GPS Facility (PGF), as part of the Hawaii Institute of Geophysics and Planetology (HIGP), who will service the station within the next few months to bring it back online.
