Mar 18, 2024 20:00 - Slow eruption of lava in the summit crater of Great Sitkin Volcano continues. Seismicity was low over the past day. Satellite radar imagery from the past day showed advance of the active northwest lava flow, continued supply of lava into the eastern lava flow, and uplift of the center of the lava dome above the vent. No other significant activity was observed in mostly cloudy views of the volcano over the past day. The current lava flow began erupting in July 2021. No explosive events have occurred since a single event in May 2021.Local seismic and infrasound sensors and ...
March 19th, 2024 05:48:51 EDT -0400 AVO Shishaldin YELLOW/ADVISORY - Low-level seismic activity continues. Persistent steaming from the summit observed.
Mar 18, 2024 20:00 - Low-level unrest continues at Shishaldin Volcano. Seismicity has been at low levels over the past day. A persistent steam and gas plume was observed in several clear web camera and satellite views. There is no evidence that the plume contains ash or that an ash eruption is imminent. No significant eruptive activity has been observed since November 2023. Local seismic and infrasound sensors, web cameras, and a geodetic network are used to monitor Shishaldin Volcano. In addition to the local monitoring network, AVO uses nearby geophysical networks, regional infrasound and ...
March 19th, 2024 05:48:51 EDT -0400 CVO Cascade Range GREEN/NORMAL - All volcanoes are at normal levels.
Mar 15, 2024 18:54 - Activity Update: All volcanoes in the Cascade Range of Oregon and Washington are at normal background activity levels. These include Mount Baker, Glacier Peak, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams in Washington State and Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, Three Sisters, Newberry, and Crater Lake in Oregon.Past Week Observations: During the past week, small earthquakes were detected at Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Hood. All monitoring data are consistent with background activity levels in the Cascades Range.
March 19th, 2024 05:48:51 EDT -0400 NMI Ahyi Seamount YELLOW/ADVISORY - Plume of discolored ocean water detected in satellite data over the past week.
Mar 14, 2024 20:42 - There were no observations of discolored ocean water seen in satellite images in the vicinity of Ahyi Seamount over the past week. The last observation of a plume of discolored water was on March 5.There are no local monitoring stations near Ahyi Seamount, which limits our ability to detect and characterize volcanic unrest there. We will continue to monitor available remote underwater pressure sensors, seismic, and satellite data closely.

Mar 12, 2024 18:58 - Activity Summary: Kīlauea volcano is not erupting. Due to continued low rates of seismicity, HVO will issue weekly Kīlauea updates on Tuesdays until further notice. Additional messages will be issued as needed.Summit Observations: Low levels of seismicity beneath the summit continues. Earthquakes are dispersed widely from the summit to the southwest. There were 40 earthquakes recorded around the summit over the past week. Depths beneath the summit are 0.5-5 miles (1–8 km) below the surface, and magnitudes are typically below M2.0.Ground deformation remains low with ...
March 19th, 2024 05:48:51 EDT -0400 HVO Ofu-Olosega GREEN/NORMAL - No activity of concern for Ofu-Olosega.
Mar 8, 2024 00:40 - No significant activity was detected at Ofu-Olosega Volcano during the past month. The USGS National Earthquake Information Center reported no earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 or greater in the vicinity of the volcano.
March 19th, 2024 05:48:51 EDT -0400 HVO Ta'u Island GREEN/NORMAL - No activity of concern for Taʻū Island
Mar 8, 2024 00:40 - No significant activity was detected at Taʻū Volcano during the past month. The USGS National Earthquake Information Center reported no earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 or greater in the vicinity of the volcano. March 19th, 2024 05:48:51 EDT -0400 HVO Mauna Loa GREEN/NORMAL - No significant changes at Mauna Loa in the past month; inflation of the summit continues.
Mar 7, 2024 20:33 - Shallow seismicity beneath Mauna Loa's summit and upper-elevation flanks has been relatively low over the past month; approximately 42 small-magnitude earthquakes (below M3.0) were detected, which is expected for a post-eruption volcano. There were very few earthquakes deeper than 8 mi (13 km).Data from Global Positioning System (GPS) instruments on Mauna Loa, record a small inflationary trend as the volcano recovers from the 2022 eruption, and magma begins to replenish the reservoir system. Gas and temperature data from a station on Mauna Loa's Southwest Rift Zone ...
